A Spice For All Seasons

A Spice For All Seasons

Not sure how I missed the lawsuit filed in 2015 against California winemakers for having dangerous levels of arsenic in their products, but I knew I could no longer enjoy domestic red wines – they were causing me headaches and a general malaise. Symptoms of arsenic poisoning are skin lesions, muscle cramps, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Frankly, I’m not sure I was not exposed!

The suit was eventually dismissed but the plaintiffs maintain the matter has not been settled. I have included the 2019 list of wines with high arsenic levels here so that we all can protect ourselves as much as possible since our elected officials only seem to be worried about losses to Wall Street.

Spices can contain chemicals harmful to our well being too, which is why I love using Spike Seasoning in my cooking. Introduced to me by my savvy Mother, Spike has zero calories, nor preservatives and it tastes amazing on meat, poultry, seafood and vegetables. I am honored to have won their Holiday Giveaway – Spike on my friends!
