Award Season Gin Spritzer

Award Season Gin Spritzer

I’m not all that interested in films because I think real life is more intriguing. But if you are or even if you’re not, the Award Season Gin Spritzer is an interesting cocktail for New Year’s Eve or your Oscar night jamboree. Gin is one pretty potent beverage that happens to be carbohydrate free. I like to use organic mixers as well as fruit juices when I create cocktails. The Winter Blues Gin Cocktail is another example.

Holland is the historical home of gin, so it is fitting I am presently partial to Nolet’s. 325 years and 11 generations later, the Nolet family legacy endures. The family is of the same company that brought Ketel One Vodka to the United States in 1983. I tend to adhere to white liquor when imbibing, yet I have never tasted Ketel One, so I must try it soon.

The flowery botanical notes of Nolet’s Silver Gin, however, play gently off the lemon in the Award Season Gin Spritzer. Higher quality spirits are usually worth the extra money, but there are so many small batch gin distillers now I cannot keep abreast of them all. Combine with a meal of Simple Spring Scallops so that the award for the best host will go to you.

Pro Tip: Extra ice in the shaker tones down the sweetness and keeps the calories manageable. Cheers!

The Award Season Gin Cocktail combines the mild tartness of Meyer Lemons with Sparkling White Grape Juice.
