The Crispy Spark – A Gin Cocktail

Happy holidays to everyone! We’re almost there! My shopping is done, what little I did, and most of my Christmas cooking is behind me, thank You! That makes it cocktail time – here is the one I drank tonight. (The next recipe will be for the one that put my mother and youngest niece to sleep before 9:30pm)! The Crispy Spark is named after crisp apples, the crisp flavor of cranberries and the effervescence of the Martinelli‘s in the glass. I came up with this Christmas cocktail in 2004 or so. I have been a gin drinker for many years and my oldest niece and her classmate at Yale came to visit me in California. They adored this easy to mix libation so I made it the signature drink the following Christmas when I hosted a fun party where Black business contacts came to network and sale their wares. Cheers! Then try the Winter Blues Gin Cocktail – so apropos, no?
The Crispy Spark
- 1 cap full Nolet’s Gin
- 1 Cup chilled Martinelli’s Sparkling Apple-Cranberry Juice
- 1 Highball Glass
- A Dash or 3 of Peychaud’s Aromatic Cocktail Bitters
Combine the gin with the juice in the highball, hit it with the bitters and enjoy! It had to be easy, we’re exhausted! Garnish with love.
The bitter’s really gave this crispy spark a depth of flavor I was impressed by. I’ll definitely be serving these at my holiday parties this year.
This drink was delicious! The flavors just go so well together. I decided to make it for a holiday party and it was a hit, so I will definitely keep this in heavy rotation.
At times I am scared of gin but I decided to try this recipe and I am here to tell you I loved it. The cocktail recipe is definitely in my rotation when entertaining.
I totally understand your reticence Erique! I’m glad you ultimately enjoyed it…proportion is everything.
By far one of the best gin cocktails I have ever had! Saved this for Christmas and New Year!
I am just starting to like gin, so I was super happy to find this recipe! I love the flavors of this drink! Thanks for the recipe!

This was super easy to make and really playful and flavourful!!! Can’t wait to make this again and again!!
Never combined Peychaud’s with gin before and I loved the outcome!
I love this cocktail! The fizzy cranberry juice and the added flavor from the bitters made it perfect. This is definitely going on our menu for the Christmas party!
Thank you Chenee! I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
