Spiced Pumpkin Pie Cream Cocktail

Spiced Pumpkin Pie Cream Cocktail

We are just a few weeks out from what may be the seminal election of our lifetimes. My household, like millions of others, has cast their vote. And no we did not drop the ballot in the mail, although we adore the U.S. Postal Service. Instead we dropped our ballots at the County Recorders’ Office. It was like Hollywood Boulevard on the day of the Academy Awards except all the cars were not limos. It was busy so much so that the staff was ready for us. Wish they had a Spiced Pumpkin Pie Cream Cocktail waiting for me but I got VIP treatment nonetheless.

We had been warned about long lines by friends earlier in the week, so I was on medium alert. It appeared that drivers were attempting to drop off a runner who would deliver the ballots; the drivers either tried to wait while double parked or perhaps circled the block. I have lived in large cities where I have used these tactics successfully; thankfully I am in a smaller city now where those tactics are really more hinder than help.

I located a meter with 1 hour and 42 minutes on it and slid into the parking spot. It would have been so easy to jaywalk but police officers have been harassing Black people from Beverly Hills to Tulsa, so I persevered to the closest crosswalk. A masked man greets me relatively quickly at the bottom of the steps of the building. My annoyance had barely risen when he said “you can go ahead now.” His job seemed to be ensuring people stayed 13 feet apart, perhaps more. I drop our ballots into a small box outside. The man hired to talk asks everyone if they know how to check online to ensure our votes are counted. The voter after me yelped out loud. “Yes, tax dollars!” I thought. I will drink a Spiced Pumpkin Pie Cream Cocktail, or a Colorado Border Wall Bulldog, November 3rd and remember this day.

Every Autumn should begin with a Baileys Vanilla Cinnamon based cocktail.
